Do you rely on your website to bring you in leads?
Potential and current clients/customers use your website often?
Then it’s important for it to be as fast as possible.
One major element to speed/load time is the server where your WordPress website is hosted. The amount of time it takes for a website page to load for the user by only traveling a few hundred miles (compared to thousands) is noticeable.
So too is the fact that we limit the amount of websites located on an individual server to ensure that your website provides the best possible experience for your users.
With over 30 global locations to host your website we’ve got great flexibility.
General shared hosting (most of the hosting that you’ve probably experienced thus far) is much like living in an apartment block: hundreds (possibly thousands) of other people using the same resources.
That’s okay so long as one of the websites doesn’t get a huge amount of traffic or gets hacked; when that happens you’re asking for trouble.
Being hosted on a server close to where your website’s users are makes business sense: time is money after all.
Also, we use caching and CDNs at Hostini. We’ll nearly always use some form of caching for your website, but CDNs only tend to help if the majority of your clients are distributed across the globe or you have a whole host of images to load.
You have two seconds to get a visitor’s attention. After that they’re clicking the back button and going to your competition.
Let’s take a couple of examples:
- You’re based in San Diego and all of your current and potential clients are based on the West Coast. It makes little sense then to have your hosting outside of the California/Seattle area.
- You’re in the UK and your clients are. Well, hosting on a US server will probably slow things down quite a lot (by seconds). And then, there’s GDPR to think about (yup, data security with your website is important too)
- You’re in Sydney; over 70% of your clients are Australians or Kiwis: it makes no sense hosting your site in the US. And a CDN? It’s not going to be as fast as your website on a server located in Australasia.
It isn’t only the server being located close to your clients that’ll have an impact. We ensure that your WordPress install runs on PHP 7, move you from a MYSQL database to a Maria DB one (the database is what runs the site), and speed optimize your website during your initial few weeks with us.
FAST, LOCAL HOSTING STARTS HERE
That’s not all either.
Depending on what level of Genie service you have, we’ll speed optimize (and test) your WordPress website every month to ensure it’s loading as fast as possible for your clients.
