If you’ve been reading through how we’re different at Hostini then you’ve probably seen that we don’t include email in our hosting environment. There’s a number of reasons why we don’t, but the main one is reliability.
Email is business critical, everyone uses it in a different way and when you get that rogue person using email on a server in a fully automated, spammy way then sometimes it causes everyone in that environment to be affected.
Filtering spam
You’ve also go the stage where spam filtering comes into play. A hosting company’s spam filters are never going to be as good as the likes of Google or Microsoft because those multi-billion-dollar companies have teams and masses of servers working every day to monitor, filter and keep you from spam and phishing emails.
There’s also the added fact that in GSuite (which is the business version of Gmail) there are so many apps that help with optimizing your inbox and prioritizing the right emails for you to read that the $5 or so charge per user per month makes it the best choice out there.
But, there’s not only the thought processes above.
Extreme reliability
Should something happen to your website like in this post then there’s the added annoyance that you might not have access to your business emails for however long your web host is down. I can’t think of many businesses (especially those who provide services B2B/B2C) who could cope without their email account if they were in work on a normal working day.
That’s where having a different provider for your emails hosting makes good sense.
So many choices
There are many different providers out there who you can use and remember that Hostini will configure all of your DNS records to positively influence the emails you send from your email provider to land in your recipients inbox.
If we don’t have email then how do we deliver emails from the WordPress hosting environment?
If you’re a bit of a geek then you’ve probably been thinking “hmmm… okay, makes sense, but what about emails that my WordPress/Woo website wants to send to both me and customers? What about form submits?” Well, we’ve got you covered.
We have a reliable SMTP system that will help to deliver emails to your customers/clients and to your inbox with the highest possible delivery rates.
Having different providers makes sense
You are able to set this up yourself if requested, but we feel that it’s best for us to set things up and if you’re using Hostini as your concierge hosting provider for your WordPress business website then you’re probably not going to be wanting to get neck-deep in the learnings of SMTP, DNS and DMARC records. If you are then you might as well setup your own hosting solution.
How Hostini helps
We monitor deliverability of emails to analyse their delivery rate and will tweak the system accordingly. In general, though, we can usually set things up, test them, and then leave the system to do what it does best.
When you have the ability for your email to be fully reliable as you want for your business and best practices to be kept up-to-date by the Genies at Hostini then you can move on and actually work on moving your business forward to how you envisioned it to be.
